Light Years Perth

Commercial Project

For Light Years Perth, the lighting was conceived as an integral part of the venue's atmosphere, helping transform a large heritage shell into a series of intimate and immersive dining experiences. Working alongside lighting designer Adrian Pizzey and the design team at Studio Plenty, the lighting contributes to a carefully orchestrated gradient of brightness and mood, guiding guests through spaces that feel both expansive and personal. The result is a layered environment that balances sophistication, warmth and playfulness.

From a design point of view, the custom lighting elements were developed to complement the project's rich palette of terracotta, terrazzo and textured finishes. The fixtures were carefully considered not only for their visual presence, but also for how they would define volume, create focal points and reinforce the spatial rhythm of the venue. Overscaled forms and soft illumination help establish a sense of intimacy while enhancing the character and identity of the restaurant.

Studio Alume worked closely with the project team to bring the custom lighting concepts to life through detailed fabrication and prototyping. The process focused on balancing technical performance with refined craftsmanship, ensuring each fixture contributed meaningfully to the overall design narrative. The completed lighting collection sits comfortably within the architectural vision, supporting the venue's distinctive atmosphere while celebrating the value of locally crafted, project-specific design solutions.
